Order of Catholic laymen in the United Kingdom, spread over about 450
local Councils in some 30 regional Provinces and all governed by one
Supreme Council.
The Knights of St. Columba is a lay order of Catholic men who have
joined together to serve their Church, their priest and their parish
community as well as their fellow men and each other in charity and
fraternity.
The Supreme Council of the Knights of St. Columba ordained that a
charter be issued to Lowestoft Council 518 on 15th January, 1956.
Council 518 of The Knights of St. Columba is drawn from the Roman
Catholic community of the parish of Lowestoft, where worship takes
place at the two churches of 'Our Lady Star of the Sea', Gordon Road
in North Lowestoft and ' St. Nicholas', Morton Road in South
Lowestoft.
The following pages tell you a little about the Knights generally but
are mainly about the local Lowestoft Council.
